TOOL 01 / NUMBERS
Percentage Change Lab
See three different descriptions of change without losing the starting value. All calculation stays in this browser.
This button records only that the tool was used—not the values entered.
Absolute change divided by the magnitude of the starting value.
Use percentage points only when both inputs are already rates expressed as percentages.
READ THE RESULT
A dramatic percentage may be mathematically correct and practically tiny.
Relative change answers how large the difference is compared with the starting value. Absolute change keeps the original unit. Percentage points compare two rates already expressed as percentages.
If the baseline is zero, relative percentage change is undefined because division by zero has no finite result.
