KEY IDEAS
What you will learn
- Creator fit is more than follower count
- Disclosures belong with the endorsement
- Engagement is not the same as business value
01
Give the channel a job
Choose whether the activity should build reach, demonstrate a product, generate conversation, support customers or produce a direct response. Each objective needs different formats and evidence. Posting frequently is an output, not a strategy.
Platform culture matters. A useful demonstration may fit short video; a complex comparison may require a longer article or live discussion. Adapt the execution while preserving accurate claims, recognisable assets and a clear destination.
02
Choose creators through audience fit
Evaluate subject expertise, audience overlap, content quality, past partnerships, comment patterns and the creator’s ability to explain the product honestly. Large follower counts can hide weak relevance or inauthentic activity.
The agreement should define deliverables, usage rights, evidence for claims, disclosure language, review boundaries and what happens if the product changes. Creators need room for an authentic voice, but authenticity does not remove responsibility for a paid message.
03
Disclose where people will notice
A material relationship can include payment, gifts, free travel, employment or family connection. Disclosure should appear with the endorsement, in language the audience understands and in every format where the relationship could affect how the recommendation is interpreted.
Do not rely on a profile biography, a hidden group of hashtags or a platform label that viewers may miss. For video and live content, disclosure may need to appear visually and verbally. The test is whether an ordinary viewer understands the relationship before acting.
04
Read engagement with caution
Views, likes, comments and shares describe distribution and interaction. They do not by themselves prove attention quality, changed belief or incremental sales. Review comment substance, qualified site behaviour, brand lift or controlled outcomes according to the campaign goal.
Record negative feedback and unintended audiences. A campaign that reaches many people through outrage can inflate attention while reducing trust. Community management and creator safety belong in the plan, not as an afterthought once the post is live.
